Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 Gaming Laptop Review

By tracy
In January, we got our first glimpse at the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 during CES. The G14 combines AMD’s 4th generation Ryzen 9 4900 HS processor, and an Nvidia RTX 2060 GPU in an ultra-portable gaming laptop design that would make your MacBook Pro toting friends jealous. After taking a look at the Razer Blade Stealth 13 earlier this year, I was hoping we’d begin to see PC makers match its portability and, hopefully, exceed its power. Fast forward just a few short weeks later, and Asus has nearly delivered just that.

The G14 has its share of quirks, but for $1,449, you get a laptop that’s powerful enough to run games like Fortnite or Call Of Duty: Warzone on epic or high settings and stay above 60 fps with ease. And yet, it’s only 3.5-pounds and 0.7-inches thin.

Here are the specifications of the $1,449 Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 I’ve been testing:

  • Model: Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 (GA401IV-BR9N6)
  • Display: 14-inch 120Hz FHD (1920×1080)
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 4900HS Processor 3.0 GHz (8M Cache, up to 4.4 GHz)
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 with Max-Q (6GB GDDR6)
  • Memory: 16GB DDR4 (3200MHz)
  • OS: Windows 10 Home
  • Storage: 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD

Dead or Alive 6 will get its final DLC next month

By tracy

After just over a year and three separate season passes, Dead of Alive 6 will get its final DLC in mid-April. The fighter is famous for its endless stream of downloadable cosmetics, most of which can be purchased in bulk via season passes. These often cost more than the base game itself.

That said, for those reluctant to cough up the money for the expensive season passes, most costumes, characters and music tracks can be purchased individually. At the time of writing, there are 422 purchasable DLC packs for the game. It’s frankly mind-boggling.

The final Dead or Alive 6 patch, v1.22 will address some as yet unspecified bugs, but it’ll also usher in new ‘high society costumes’ and ‘school uniforms’. The game will continue to work as expected: online matches, rankings, and the DLC store will stay.

Of course, it’s possible to play Dead or Alive 6 without spending anything, thanks to the Core Fighters edition. While it only offers four fighters, it does give you access to online ranked fights, Versus, Arcade, Time Attack, Training and Quest modes, as well as an introduction to the story.

Yes, Your Grace Review – Somber Victories

By tracy

Uncertainty and second-guessing often go hand-in-hand with the most memorable moments in choice-driven games. When you know you can have a powerful impact on an experience, the stakes feel real. Yes, Your Grace is one of the most stressful games I’ve played, because it’s not just one decision or big moment that defines everything; it’s the culmination of seemingly small decisions and never knowing which ones could change the tide of your entire playthrough. That type of unpredictability is exciting and refreshing, but it is also unforgiving, and often feels like making lucky guesses rather than executing a shrewd strategy.

Yes, Your Grace is straightforward on the surface, and only takes a few hours to complete a single run. Every week, people come to your kingdom with requests for money, resources, or assistance from your higher-ups. The game is all about resource management; you only have so much to go around, so you can’t say yes to everyone. Once you run out of cash or supplies, it’s game over. However, you can’t curry favor and reap its rewards without giving a little. You may use precious resources to forge an alliance to gain access to another kingdom’s army or spend

How Shenmue 3 Chased the Memory, but Lost Sight of the Vision

By tracy

The brown, tiger-print jacket worn by Shenmue’s lead, Ryo Hazuki, has had plenty of time to become iconic. And become iconic it has, almost by default – after all, the rest of Ryo’s attire is of the white t-shirt and blue jeans variety. That jacket is literally the thing that gives him a visual identity. To put its importance into perspective, during Shenmue 3’s record-setting Kickstarter campaign, 22 people coughed up USD $3000 for a replica as approved by franchise creator Yu Suzuki. That jacket is Ryo Hazuki. It seems ironic, then, that actively removing it was a key moment of liberation for my own playthrough of Shenmue 3. I had spent many of my first hours in the game slavishly living by my own memories, much as the game itself seems a slave to where it left off in 2001. Removing that jacket was an eye-opener. At some point in time, I had forgotten that I once complained that you couldn’t change Ryo’s outfit in the original Shenmue. Being able to actually do so took a knife to the hardened memories of what was, and opened up a cavity through which the what-could-have-been was able to glint through. Shenmue

Disco Elysium Review – Living On The Edge And Loving It

By tracy

When a detective wakes up surrounded by empty bottles in a trashed hotel room, crime fiction has trained us to fill in the blanks with all sorts of issues – substance abuse, egomania, heartbreak. Because Disco Elysium incorporates some of these common elements, it fooled me into thinking I was in familiar narrative territory. I was not. As the hours unfolded, this investigative RPG surprised and delighted me at almost every turn with its complex world, fantastic dialogue, and ability to convey a constant struggle with the warring facets of one’s own mind.

Both as a human and a detective, Disco Elysium’s leading man is a disaster – but deciding precisely what kind of disaster is the heart of this fascinating, story-driven murder mystery. Is he an alcoholic trash fire? A delusional prophet of the apocalypse? The answer emerges slowly as you search for clues in the fictional city of Revachol, making choices during conversation and exploration that give you a clearer picture of the miserable person you’ve become. Maybe you elect to refer to yourself as a “superstar cop” while sporting a pained grimace you cannot suppress. Maybe you break down crying while telling a young woman to wear
